Road safety week ‘look out for others’

Tree of remembrance

From the 1st December our annual tree of remembrance will be in our reception area.  If we have cared for you in the last 4 years you will have been sent some tags. Perhaps your bereavement was more than 4 years ago, it may even be that we didn’t look after the funeral arrangements for you at your time of loss, regardless, you are very welcome to call in or ring us and we will happily supply you with a tag so that you too can write your own message to someone you have lost and remember at this time of year.

Christmas Carol Service of Remembrance

This year were are holding a Christmas Carol Service of Remembrance on Sunday 14th December 2014 at 3.00pm at St Andrew’s Parish Church, Biggleswade.  The congregation will be invited to light floating candles during the service to remember people they have lost. Tags of Remembrance will also be placed on the Christmas Tree during the service, after the service the tags will be transferred to the Tree of Remembrance at Woodman and Son. After the service all are warmly invited to stay for light refreshments and a chance to share memories. We hope this service will bring comfort to everyone who attends. This invite extends to all in the community.

Lodge Brothers funeral directors Ashford and Funeral directors Woking and many other Lodge Brothers branches get behind several important campaigns where lives are changed or saved such as the Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety event, involving thousands of schools, organisations and community groups every year. Set up in 1997, the event is coordinated annually by Brake each November, and aims to encourage grassroots action on road safety and raise awareness about the part we can all play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer. Road Safety Week is taking place 17-23 November 2014, it is asking everyone to ‘look out for each other’ on roads, because being selfish can easily lead to tragedy.

Particularly calling on drivers to protect people on foot and bike by slowing down to 20 in communities, looking twice and taking it slow at junctions and bends, and giving people plenty of room. Specsavers in St Neots are holding a raffle to raise funds for this excellent charity. T L Cobbold are very proud to be support such an important project.
