What better way to spend an English summer’s afternoon than at St Mary the Virgin Parish Church, Therfield Fete, which was held on Saturday 21st June 2014. As Henry James once said, “Summer afternoon-summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” The weather was kind and made for a afternoon packed with many different attractions for all ages. Reverend Morgan quoted, “Thank you Cecil Newling for kindly donating a raffle prize, the fete has raised about £4,000.” The photo shows Ben Rule clutching his raffle prize.

Meet Robert Lodge who has just opened Funeral Directors Cobham; he is the seventh generation descendant of James Lodge who founded Lodge Brothers in 1780 along with experienced Funeral Arranger Claire Nightingale who is moving from the G. Boutell in Byfleet will assist him.

The new premises have been extensively refurbished to ensuring arranging a funeral in Cobham both comforting and informal surroundings, including a Chapel of Rest and a private meeting room for families to discuss funeral arrangements.
Lodge Brothers have been helping and advising families in Surrey for over 225 years. Today the company is run by six members of the Lodge family (Andrew, Robert, Christopher, Michael, Beverley and Janet) who are the seventh generation of family owned funeral directors.
